Is Three Little Birds for you?
If you are considering 3LB as a child care option, or maybe you just want to get involved in some of our community events, participate in discussions, or connect with other like-minded Twin Cities families in our community, the following will help you decide if 3LB is really for you.
1. You value play above all else when it comes to your child's early education.
2. You are committed to relationships built on trust. Trusting your child's abilities to learn, grow, and make mistakes, and trusting us to guide and encourage their processes.
3. Muddy feet, dirty hands, paint-y clothes, and many other messes are all signs of a really good day. You value real experiences for your child above rote learning ABCs and 123s.
4. You are flexible in your schedules, and understand that we are a family, not a center. Sometimes we get sick, go on vacation, or need to close for personal reasons. Sometimes, though rare, you may need to find backup care.
5. You place a high value on nature and outside time for your child. We go outside every day! This means you are willing to provide weather appropriate gear (from snowsuits to swimsuits to rainsuits), and are tolerant of bug bites, ticks, occasional sunburn, dirt and mud, and obviously snow and ice most of the year.
6. You understand that healthy risk is essential to growth and development of self confidence and motor skills, and with healthy risk sometimes comes injury. Scrapes, bumps and bruises are part of the experience here. We keep the birds safe, but we also allow them to test their own boundaries and develop healthy risk self-assessment and physical abilities.
7. You are ready for your child (and the rest of your family) to be a part of a larger family. This means learning from older children, helping and nurturing younger children, playing with a variety of age groups, and having many "aunts and uncles" who care about them. It also means sharing everything—from germs to clothes to sunscreen to stories to love.
