Yep, this weekend I sat on the camera and broke it. Means no pics for a while, until we get a new one.
Although I'm sad we have to buy a new one, and that we've missed some really great moments this week so far, not having the camera has actually been sort of an interesting and enjoyable experience. Yesterday we had an absolutely wonderful day from beginning to end - morning by the bonfire, beautiful fall hike through the forest, lying on the ground under a HUGE cottonwood tree with the kids watching the wind rattle the leaves ("they're dancing!" said Wren), playing wolf and bunny with the kids, storytime on the blanket, busy all over the yard in the afternoon...fall magic was in the air, and I was present for every moment of it. Not that I'm not present when I'm holding a camera, but it's different to experience a moment and not feel the need to capture it, just live it. Because even though there's no photo, and no blog to share with the world, I know and the kids know, it happened. Just living it is good enough right now, maybe even better.
